Well, as you can see from the strapline, I do love a good cake! So here is a selection of some of the bakes I have made since settling in to my new abode. As I am sure you can see, I like a good cream sponge, and these are generously filled with homemade preserves made by my sister-in-law Liz - the best jam ever! Along with lemon meringue and cheesecake, I am making the most of my kitchen and my oven! Perfect with a latte and a good tune playing on the radio! And, I hasten to add, I don't eat them all in one sitting! 😜 Cakes, cakes, cakes!
Since my move, I have been lucky enough to have a workroom that I can shut the door on at the end of the working day. Previously it had been a case of having to share space with my equipment and machinery. So now I have the luxury of actually being able to relax in space that is designed to be relaxed in (as shown in a previous blog) - sheer heaven! The equipment I have though excellent and of course, necessary, isn't the most beautiful to sit and admire, so it is a treat to be able finally to put it somewhere practical and hidden! My knitting machine station, consisting of an electronic Brother 970 complete with ribber and garter carriage - perfect for all the blankets I produce. Currently working on a cardigan for my sister in law, pictures shortly! My sewing machine station, consist...

Like most other aspects of my designer work, computers have taken over. Not that I dislike using traditional methods, but I was never the best at drawing or drafting. These days I use several different pieces of software to get my finished artwork online. But even with the ease and efficiency of these, a pen and paper is where I start - rough sketching quickly helps get the ideas in focus and then I can finesse and finalise them at later stages thus: Sketch, 3d Render, Final Garment After some rough sketching is down on paper, a more refined sketch is produced with a touch of colour using Adobe Illustrator and a scan of the sketch. Then on to a 3d render. I use a few different programs for this - Marvelous Designer is a 2D to 3D render program that converts 2 dimensional pattern pieces into a 3 dimensio...
